SCORE
Terrible's Primm 300
-
-
Arlington Hts., IL (September 13, 2007) -
Chris
Raffo and his Fig Partners, Hot Creek Capital, D & L Performance,
Phil's Inc. BFGoodrich Tires Chevy Blazer were looking to turn get
make on track , looking to keep alive the hopes of a SCORE Class 3
Championship. Unfortunately, the team suffered another "Did Not
Finish."
- The
Class 3 participants in this late summer classic, in the Nevada
desert, saw a record number of competitors in the Class 3 division.
With the "Stock" 4x4 competitors slated to complete just two
circuits of the sixty-six mile course, Chris and his team knew there
wasn't much time for an error or breakage on the course.
-
-
Almost immediately after taking the green flag,
Chris realized something wasn't right with the drivetrain. About
five miles into the desert, the transfer case broke basically ending
the day for the team.
-
- "We
had just gotten out of the stadium part of the course and just began
running in the desert, when we stopped to help a fellow competitor,"
commented Chris Raffo. "At that point I knew something wasn't right in
the drivetrain. When we attempted to get going again, but basically
we could not move. Quickly we traced it to the transfer case, and
that was it."
-
- The
best part of the day was when the Blazer and the crew got back to
the Pit Area in Primm. Fellow teammate and driver, Jeff Dolan, had
setup the grill and treated the crew to an awesome barbeque.
-
- Now
the Raffonator is back in Illinois, getting repaired and prepped for
the 2007 edition of the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. This year's edition
is almost 1300 miles long, with the trek finishing in Cabo San
Lucas.
